This one-shot opens with the Chaos Kings invasion of the cosmic realm of the Gods of Zenn-La. It’s told through the view of Thrann, Saint of Science. The Gods of Zenn-La, forgotting by the mortals they watch, do their best to stop the Chaos King but they are defeated, with the strength of the Chaos King growing with each death.

This chapter has the Chaos King trying to convince the Zenn-La gods to give up. They are no longer worshipped, what is there to fight for? The counter is Thrann talking about what a god’s duty is, to watch over their mortals even if the mortals don’t know it. The Zenn-La gods have to make up for allowing Galactus to destroy the planet and it took the sacrifice of a mortal, Norrin Radd, to remind the Gods how to be gods.

The fight doesn’t last long and the gods lose.

The second chapter opens with the Fantastic Four seperately chasing four green and purple monsters. The monsters come together in the form of the Impossible Man, who loves chaos. Sensing the approach of the Chaos King, Impossible Man teleports to the King. The two have a talk about the different states of chaos. Impossible Man sees chaos as fun, allowing a little bit for everyone. The Chaos King doesn’t want a chaotic universe, he wants a universe of nothingness.

Impossible Man puts up a decent fight but ultimately loses as the Chaos King extingushes all light on Earth.

Chapter three is the Chaos Kings assault on Hell. Satan says that it’s free will and choice that lead souls to Hell and that all have their part to play. The Chaos King says that choice leads to pure chaos, ripping it all apart. Satan sends his son, Damian Hellstrom, to Earth to warn the mortals.

With one last assault Satan attacks the Chaos King and loses. The Chaos King absorbs Satans powers and grows strong.

But not all-powerful, as Thrann tells him. The Chaos King has miscalculated. In taking out the underworlds and afterlifes, he’s only fought those that choose to die. With his assault on Earth he will now face those that choose to live.
