Three chapters with the Chaos King explaining his view on things with three people that form similar but opposing views. The first chapter is a debate on “why to be a god with no worshippers” between the Chaos King and the gods of Zenn-La, who fight harder because of the sacrifice of Norrin Radd that showed them how to be a god when they had turned their backs on Zenn-La when they were needed. The second chapter is about different sides of chaos, with the Chaos King fighting the Impossible Man. The third chapter is about choice and features a battle between the Chaos King and Satan.

The three chapters are definately interesting. Getting an extended version of the Chaos King’s thoughts was needed in this event. The main books didn’t do much to explain why the Chaos King thinks like he does. This one-shot is a look inside his mind, explaining just how his mind works and why he wants nothingness.

Choosing to present three similar but opposing views is an interesting way to do it. And provides some contrast. It wouldn’t have worked as well if it was just the Chaos King ranting. But it works by having the Chaos King act as if he’s trying to convince others that his way is right.

The art is by Michael Wm. Kaluta. I know he’s widely regarded as an excellant artist but I’ve never been the biggest fan. The cosmic and hell scenes are amazing. The backgrounds in all the scenes are amazing. It’s when he tries to draw normal characters that the work isn’t that good. The Thing especially doesn’t look good. But the cosmic and hell stuff is amazing. More then makes up for the bad figures.
