This title has a looser and lighter feel then the Avengers title. The interactions between the characters seem less tense. There’s a funnier tone to the book. Bendis trademark banter is on full effect and comes across easier then in the other Avengers title. It feels like this is the Avengers book, and the cast, that Bendis enjoys more.

There is no action in this issue. But it’s not boring. Bendis keeps the book flowing with the easy banter between the characters. They come across as a group of friends just hanging out. The only part of the book that felt forced was Luke’s outrage over getting paychecks. The rest of it was excellant.

The best parts were Wong’s appearance as well as the exchange between Wolverine and Squirrel Girl. There’s a story to tell there and it should be an interesting one. Squirrel Girl will be a nice addition to the cast.

This book was full of funny moments. Nothing that was laugh out loud funny, but just lots of chuckles. From Wolverines “why am I being thrown under the train” to Ms Marvel’s “no one was listening”. None of it was forced, it all felt natural. In Avengers some of the funny banter feels forced, but not in New Avengers.

And oh yeah, there was an Echo sighting.

Immonen’s art is beautiful. That’s all that needs be said.

New Avengers #7 receives
5 out of 5

For no action, this was a great issue.
