Secret Avengers #8
Published by: Marvel Comics
Written by: Ed Brubaker
Penciled by: Mike Deodato Jr.

Another issue where Marvel forgot to put a credits page in. Marvel finally gives Shang-Chi’s father a name, Zheng Zu, so they don’t get in legal trouble since it was originally Fu Manchu. Good issue as the Shadow Council gets one up on the Secret Avengers. I like that Rogers pays attention to the detail of keeping them secret when they are in public. Valkyrie really needs to wear the jacket and pants and ditch the cape. Good look.

Fantastic Four #586
Published by: Marvel Comics
Written by: Jonathan Hickman
Penciled by: Steve Epting

All the threads that Hickman laid since the beginning of his run on FF are now coming together, even stuff done in the annual. The FF are spread out, each confronting a different threat individually. It’ll be interesting to see which is the one that will die next issue. As always, Steve Eptings work is awesome.

Punisher: In The Blood #2
Published by: Marvel Comics
Written by: Rick Remender
Art by: Roland Boschi

Now this is how you do a Punisher comic in the Marvel Universe. Just enough super stuff to put it in the MU, but the emphasis is on the death and voilence of the Punisher. Solid story as well and art that is made for this type of book. Nice to see Marvel is still on the ball with the credit pages. Boschi, the artist, is credited as a writer.

Iron Man: Rapture #3
Published by: Marvel Comics
Written by: Alexander Irvine
Art by: Lan Medina

Waste of a mini-series. It’s alright. But it’s out of continuity and doesn’t make a ton of sense. The idea was that Tony gets seduced by the idea of melding man and machine. Okay, thats good. Except we’re 3 issues in and Tony has been gone since the first issue and it’s not about Tony’s struggle as he’s been taking over. It’s Pepper and Rhodey versus the AI.

What If: Dark Reign
Published by: Marvel Comics
Written by: Jason Hendeson
Art by: Sana Takeda

This could have been a good What If, really showing the differences between what the heroes know about Osborn and what the public knows, what his public face is. Except it ends up being a waste. Hey editors, BTW, Bobbi and Clint aren’t married right now.

Superior #3
Published by: Marvel Comics/Icon
Written by: Mark Millar
Penciled by: Leinil Yu

Yu’s art is great to look at but there are alot of pacing problems with this issue. The train sequance was especially bad. Quick story without much depth to it. Can see what Millar is working at setting up. Going to have the relationship between the hero and the female character that was in Prime, except in reverse.

Legion of Super-Heroes #8
Published by: DC Comics
Written by: Paul Levitz
Penciled by: Yildiray Cinar & Daniel HDR

Levitz is doing a decent job of dealing with such a large cast, given them some moments to shine and keeping the personalities different. The story itself is a bit hard to follow as it jumps all over the place. Seems kind of odd to be electing a new leader well in the middle of a crisis.

Chaos War: Avengers #2
Published by: Marvel Comics
Written by: Fred Van Lente
Penciled by: Tom Grummett

Much better then the first issue. This was actually a good read. Nice use of backstory on some of the characters. Good art by Grummett. This has been one of the better Chaos War tie-ins.
