This series just gets better and better, more and more profound as the story expands. This issue we get a little into the backgrond of Nathanial Richards and Howard Stark and how their appearances in S.H.I.E.L.D. and their history in the Marvel Universe.

Howard Stark comes across as a bit of a selfish jerk, caring more about his work then his family, which is how his previous mentions had made him come across. We see Nathanial Richards after he says goodbye to his family, making the supreme sacrifice for the greater good. Which coincides with his appearances and mentions in Fantastic Four.

Excellant job by Hickman on putting the two figures into history without having to retcon anything that had come before.

He’s also a master at working historical figures into the story, as he does at the end of this issue. This is the second issue thats got a complete shocker of an ending.

The future that Stark and Richards arrive in is very interesting and ties into the Marvel Universe. Rama Tut became Immortus and it’s Immortus we see as the Sphinx head.

Weaver’s art is amazing. Incredibly detailed. Beautiful. It’s well worth the bi-monthly wait.

S.H.I.E.L.D. #5 receives
5 out of 5

I don’t normally enjoy bi-monthly series, but this one is worth the wait.
