Buffy #40, Last Gleaming part 5
So it’s been a while since I watched Buffy on TV and it’s the first time I’ve read a Buffy Comic book so bear with me. And I’m not sure but there might be some spoilers in here, so read on if you don’t mind them.

This is the last part of the Last Gleaming and the end of Season 8 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Buffy is working as a waitress and is very emotionally drained from what has transpired from the past few issues. So Buffy being Buffy eventually decides to do what she does best, and be Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This seems to lead nicely into the eventual Season 9.

What I loved about reading this issue was that I felt like I was watching an episode of the show unfold before my eyes. Though I hadn’t read anything prior to this book, it made me want to go back and read this arc and quite frankly the whole series from the beginning. I credit this to Whedon’s excellent writing on the book.

Jeanty’s art is excellent. The lines are crisp, the backgrounds are beautiful and the characters have a good – comic-booky resemblance to the actors who portray it.

I think fans of this series are going to really enjoy the finale to season 8 but I would probably recommend picking up back issues if you haven’t been following the book.

Buffy issue #40 receives 4 out 5 stars
