Steampunk Palin #1

Have you ever wanted to see Sarah Palin take on big oil steam punk style?

My wife loves steam punk, so any steam covers that catch her eye makes her pause. She couldn’t bring herself to pick up the Republican princes as a steam punk character. I could. Apparently this comic came out in Oct ’10, but only caught our attention this past week on the shelf of our local comic book shop.

Publisher’s blurb

Energy catastrophe has struck worldwide! Massive oil spills, nuclear meltdowns and more leave us desperate for viable energy sources to rebuild global society and technology. Inspired by a little tea party, Sarah Palin hits upon the answer: steam power! She begins the “Steam Initiative”, touting geothermal energy as the cure for what ails ya. The heads of Big Oil and Nuclear Power are less than happy with this trend, and they send their agents to do in the Rogue Republican. Luckily, she comes prepared with a set of steam-powered armor! (Standard equipment, don’cha know.)

Palin’s steam advocacy has unexpected explosive results. Palin is injured and the steam technology is used to replace over 60% of her body with robotics. The rebuilding also makes her boobs bigger. I’m sure that is important somehow. Palin becomes a gun toting leader of the rebellion to fight big industry. Palin’s dialogue is littered with don’cha know type phrases ripped from the SNL campaign scripts these have become stock parts of Palin parody.

Palin is not the only political figure to be lampooned in this political punching bag. Barack Obama is transformed into a steam punk Robama. Other political jokes abound, including the costumes from Our American Cousins. The humor here is reminiscent of Barrack the Barbarian (formerly from DDP), or President Evil (from AP Entertainment). Humor and politics make great bedfellows. Overall this is a fun read. This concept may not have the staying power of the ongoing Barrack the Barbarian, but for a one shot is a fun read.

This is a fun $3.99 black and white one shot.
