I’m not going to let the incredibly awesome name of Troy Hickman sway my judgement of this comic.

I really like the concept that Hickman has going here. It’s got a “super hero in the real world” vibe, much better then what Millar tried to do in Kick-Ass. I like the look inside the mind of Twilight Guardian and her skewed perception of the world.

The little bits, wondering if the old lady is going to use the parrott for prostitution, is interesting. You wonder just how skewed TG’s reality truly is. Hickman walks the line carefully, not completely sending TG over the line into craziness. To step over the line would change the tone of the book and the concept. If we knew that TG was totally crazy, the “super hero in the real world” vibe would change. It would no longer be about how being a crimefighter affects TG and her world, it would then be a story about watching a crazy person.

I have no interest in reading about a crazy person.

The one problem I have with the issue and thats the sheer amount of words. I like that we have sucn an inside look into the mind of TG and we can see how her perception of reality has been changed by her new life. But it’s alot of words. I wonder if some of it could have been cut down and kept the same story. It’s pretty dense.

I like the concept alot and it’s a much better take on the idea then Kick-Ass.

Kotian’s art is great. He’s got a real nice line. There’s just enough change in his style when he “recreates” the comic pages that you can tell one from the other and the recreated pages feel true to the eras they are from.

The little details are what helps make it so good. I like how we see the sock monkey reflecting TG’s position.

I can’t wait to see more of his work. I really enjoyed it.

A bit wordy but a good read overall.
