There’s a certain dysfunction to the Freedom Fighters thats interesting to read about. You have to wonder how they are able to function as a group, yet they do, and do so very well.

There’s a hectic pace to the book as well. They have a job to do and they’re going to do it, and nothing is going to slow them down.

I like how there are differences, major and subtle, between Uncle Sam and Miss America. Uncle Sam represents all that is good about America where Miss America is now looking like she represents the harder side of America, the side that thinks the “ends justify the means”.

And this issue shows that Black Condor is more then just a guy with wings, he’s a bad-ass that could give Hawkman a run for his money. I like how P&G have been spotlighting the different members without shining a bright light on them. Through little bits and pieces, like the Black Condor ones in this issue, we’re seeing more about the various cast members. Each gets fleshed out more. Even Dollman, introduced in this issue, gets enough in a few sentences, to fill us in on who he is and what he’s been doing.

P&G do a good job at showing emotion through the text. We know how Lester and his wife feel about Joan. You can almost see the ice falling to the ground as Lester’s wife opens the door and sees Miss America. And you have to wonder how the final page will play out and affect the group dynamic.

This is not a happy team. There’s a hard edge to the group that is enjoyable to read.

Moore’s art gets better ever issue. I’ve been a big fan of how he has portrayed Phantom Lady and Miss America. There’s a sexiness to them, but not overt or in a cheesecake way. He doesn’t pose them out of the ordinary but the feel carries through anyways.

He crams alot of detail and action into his pages.

Freedom Fighters #6 receives
4 out of 5

One of the better team books on the shelves.
