I liked the idea of a crossover between the Black Widow, Hawkeye and Mockingbird. It seemed pretty natural that they would crossover considering the interest between the characters and the personal relationship between Black Widow and Hawkeye.

The only problem is that I only enjoyed the McCann parts of the crossover and not the Swierczynski parts. It seems like the story only advanced in the other parts and not what would have been the Black Widow issues. Part 2 and 4 seemed just fight sequances and nothing more. The wrap up wasn’t even that good.

I did enjoy the volcano scene and the parts between Hawkeye and Mockingbird. But the rest just were muddled and didn’t make much sense. The whole end sequance, where Black Widow tricks Ronin, didn’t work well at all. There were a couple of jumps in the story, not sure if it was the art or the script, that ruined the flow of the story.

This doesn’t serve as a good ending chapter for the Widowmaker crossover.

Garcia’s art is better in this issue then the other ones he had done. His figures were tighter and the proportions were more in control. It’s still not a great style for a Black Widow tale as the story doesn’t flow well.

Widowmaker #4 receives
2.5 out of 5

It’s a shame because this crossover was strong in the McCann parts and weak in the rest.
