The end of the Cobra saga, setting the stage for the next chapter and the Cobra Civil War. This issue is about Chuckles escaping and the end of the Tomax/Xamot storyline.

There’s a lot of death in this issue. Not everyone gets out alive.

Costa and Gage do a good job with the pacing of this story. Chuckles is using Tomax, he needs Tomax’s pass codes. Everyone knows that Xamot attempted a coup, but knowledge that the Commander is dead hasn’t come out yet. This issue shows major differences between the twins and puts Tomax in an interesting place. I’m eager to see where Costa, solo now, will take Tomax.

Chuckles ending narration is emotional and brings the character full circle. He knows he’s a bastard, that he’s just a weapon but he’s given a chance to do something for his reasons and end the endless cycle he’s been in.

Because the major event happened last issue, this issue is closure, it brings the characters to the end of this arc and shows why Xamot had such interest in Chuckles. And Chuckles reaction is perfect.

This was a good end to the first season of Cobra. Costa and Gage gave an intense and compelling character in Chuckles and the last chapter fits well with the way the stories of this series were going. It’s the perfect ending to the first season.
Even the fight between Chuckles and Big Boa is well done with Boa providing a great moment near the end.

Chee and Fuso make a good team. It’s hard to tell which artist did what part of the book. And that’s not a bad thing at all. Chee fits in with the style that the book has had from the beginning. I’m glad that Fuso will be back for the next chapter of the Cobra saga.

A great ending to the story of Chuckles and the twins.
