I guess I had to have misunderstood the meaning behind the .1 Initiative. I thought it was to provide good jumping on points for new readers. But so far I haven’t read one that really does that. Captain America #615.1 came the closest. Thor #620.1 comes no where near.

This issue isn’t even by the book’s current creative team or the upcoming creative team. This is a fill-in story, no more, no less.

So what was the point of making it part of the .1 initiative?

The story is pure filler. It’s one and done. It’s an inventive little story. The Asgardians hold a feast in Thor’s honor and the Grey Gargoyle interupts. A bit heavy handed with the praise by the Asgardians. But decent overall.

Just no staying power. This would have made a good back-up in an annual or oversized special or something. But not strong enough to stand on it’s own.

Brooks art is decent. Again, nothing to write home about. It’s solid. It does the job.

Thor #620.1 receives
3 out of 5

Decent story and art but not worth the price. Definately doesn’t deserve to be part of the .1 initiative.
