This is definately a different Hellboy tale.

It’s a cautionary tale, telling us to be careful what we wish for. And also for kids to not play around with the occult. It’ll get you turned into a Cow-Man.

Atypical of a Hellboy tale, this one involves aliens, and ones more akin to the little gray men. And those aliens kidnap cows. And kids that play with the occult.

Definately a bit odd. But still good. The story of Hellboy and his new found Cow-Man friend, trying to escape from the aliens is a fun read. You know it’s not going to go well for the aliens when they break out the anal probe.

But the ending is a bit sad. As Buster Oakley, the boy that played with the occult and got turned into a cow-man, comes full cirlce in a way. He wanted the spell to remake him, and it did, but now he’s stuck in the form of a cow-man and he’s being seen as a demon by some other kids.

Be careful what you wish for.

It’s been so long since I’d seen Kevin Nowlan work that I’d forgotten what a master he is.
