Michonne not quite ready for TV

Keven Skinner reports on the Daily Blam that fan favorite Michonne will not be in season 2 of the AMC hit Walking Dead.

Michonne is one of the fan favorites in the band of survivors. Introduced way back in issue #19 flanked by zombies on a leash, she is one of the longest running characters in the comic book. Her longevity may be part of the reason for her status. Or perhaps it is because she swings a sword. Or perhaps it is because she can handle high pressure situations and still break down privately. Or it is because fans were rooting for her to hook up someone on the cast. Either way Michonne has delivered in the past. Apparently, she’s not quite ready for TV.

The TV version of the long running comic does diverge from the original story line. Robert Kirkman, series writer, seems to be taking a more active role in the second season series.

Producer and comic series creator Robert Kirkman revealed that all episodes have been scripted for the second season of AMC’s apocalyptic zombie drama; Plus he is hoping to see fan favorite Michonne in season three.

The Walking Dead is scheduled to hit airwaves on AMC this October for it’s full 13-episode second season. Kirkman revealed that the writing team consisting of Evan Reilly (Rescue Me), Scott Gimple (FlashForward) and Angela Kang (Terriers) and one freelancer helped flesh out what is promised to be a more emotional and violent follow up season to the Golden Globe nominated program.

Michonne fans can tune into Weekly Walking Dead this week to read about the sword wielding bad ass but kicker.
