Avengers Academy #13
Published by: Marvel Comics
Written by: Christos Gage
Penciled by: Sean Chen

The prom is an interesting way to wrap up some personality conflicts and start some new ones. There’s a lot of closure brought to some things and new beginnings to others. Not a bad little issue.

The Boys #54
Published by: Dynamite Entertainment
Written by: Garth Ennis
Art by: John McCrea

Mallory continues the origin of The Boys and there’s a couple of significant revelations in this issue. McCrea’s style provides a nice counter to the Robertson/Braun style we’re used to seeing.

Herc #2
Published by: Marvel Comics
Written by: Greg Pak & Fred Van Lente
Penciled by: Neil Edwards

A little bit of a twist with which girl is bad and which is good. Having Herc more street level is an interesting idea. I liked the interplay between Herc and Kingpin. This should be a decent series.

Heroes For Hire #6
Published by: Marvel Comics
Written by: Dan Abnett & Andy Lanning
Penciled by: Brad Walker

The Misty and Paladin show with special-guest Spider-Man. I like how Misty and Paladin are trying to get the HfH back up and running, and legit. I really like how DnA gives Paladin alot of personality in this issue. They even make Batroc a menace.

Giant Size Avenger’s Academy #1
Published by: Marvel Comics
Written by: Paul Tobin
Penciled by: David Baldeon

Tobin has a good handle on the Academy kids and the Young Allies. He’s got a good handle on Arcade. Spider-Girl and Reptil make a good team. Baldeon’s art is very nice. A nice little special. And Thankfully the events of this book do resonate in the Avengers Academy series.
