A-Team 2?
Published on Friday, June 10, 2011 by

A-Team was a fan’s dream but did not translate to a box office success. Face, or the actor who played Face, thinks that a sequel is unlikely. Websites are running with his doomsday proclamation.

No official announcement has been offered but Bradley “Face” Cooper’s assertion seems logical. Reports give the American box office gross at 77 million and world wide around 100 million. Allegedly the movie barely covered production and promotional cost. That does no bode well for a sequel in a Hollywood driven by box office money.

The week after A-Team opened, beat at the box office by Karate Kid, director Joe Carnahan spoke about an unused visual left over from developing the first movie. The visual could be worked into a sequel.

Despite Face’s doomsday proclamation, other cast members want a sequel. Hannibal and Murdock want in. Is Liam “Hannibal” Neison considering pushing for a modern nicotine patch in the sequel? That may be a moot point for the writer and actor to sort out. Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has another movie listed in 2011 but his movie career probably would not put him in a position to snub a sequel, so we’ll assume he’s in. Oddly, Bill Clinton wants a sequel and a cameo also according to the vocal Bradley Cooper.

Stephen J. Cannell is missed at moments like this. He had a strong personality and could steer a project against odds. Can director/writer Joe Carnahan steer a project against the accountants?

What can you do to help? Improve the bottom line of this movie. The box office dates has long since passed. However, A-Team is still available on DVD and has two IDW trade paperbacks already for sale at comic shops and book stores. Some movies do better on the home market than the box office which can result in sequels and other projects. A little public outcry never hurt a movie becoming a cult classic. What would you like to see in a sequel? What would you like to see in future comics? Should IDW collect the three issue Marvel comic run the way it has collected Joes and Transformers? Do you think a TV show spin off is a good way to continue this franchise?Discuss on the Pryde Forum.

G.I. Joe 2 recently confirmed a release date. A-Team should announce next!
