Powers Picks Up Walking Dead Writer

Powers, a project being developed for TV, based on the comic by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming has picked up Walking Dead alumni. Bendis is slated to work as writer, executive producer, and creator of the series. He will be joined on writing duties by Charles N. Eglee, who is said to be talking to Sony Pictures Television and FX about joining the show. Although, IGN was also able to get a quote out of Bendis. “All I can say is he is helping get Powers on the air in a big, big way,” he said.

Charles Eglee worked on Season 1 of the Walking Dead. FX, Kirkman and company let the regular writing staff go in favor of bringing in freelance writers to assist Kirkman. Kirkman will be taking an active role in writing season 2. This sounds like Eglee was fired from the show. However, season one was more of a six hour pilot than an actual season. By creating the six part season one to see if the show would work on FX they were ensured to have a DVD whereas a traditional pilot would not have been salable if the show tanked. Now that the show has created a success for the network they are finalizing a new writing line up to take over the show. Irregardless Eglee and the rest of the season 1 writing cast created a hit for FX.

Kevin Falls (Journeyman), who had already been announced back in October as a producer for FX’s TV adaptation of Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming’s Powers, has been announced as the co-writer the pilot script.
