What is the point of this story?

Iron Man 2.0 is supposed to be about Jim Rhodes, War Machine. He has less lines in this issue then Iron Fist does. And how does this tie into Fear Itself? Like some of the other tie-ins, all they do is serve to make Fear Itself a continuity nightmare.

The attack on Washington is taking forever it seems like. War Machine starts off there, disappears to Beijing. And well that is going on, the Absorbing Man makes it from wherever he was in Fear Itself #1 to Beijing and then he’ll make it to Dubai in time for Fear Itself #3. And all that time the attack on Washington DC is still going on.

We know that War Machine and the Deadly Weapons don’t stop Absorbing Man or Titania. So again I ask, what is the point? The point seems like it’s a chance for Spencer to use what I am assuming is his creation, Sun Wukong The Monkey King. I bought this looking for a War Machine comic not a Sun Wukong comic.

We haven’t even had a chance to see what the 2.0 armor can do after it was introduced in issue #4. I’m feeling gypped.

I’ve never been an Olivetti fan and this issue helps reinforce that. Lack of backgrounds. Stiff characters. His layouts are odd, jumping at odd angles. Backgrounds appear out of no where. The panel of Fat Cobra is very odd. It appears like he’s busting through a wall, which wasn’t there a panel before, but it’s hard to tell because half of the background is a faded blue and the other half is the odd wall like thing.

Not good at all.

Iron Man 2.0 receives
2 out of 5

When I buy a book about War Machine, I want a book about War Machine.
