Usagi Yojimbo #140- Advanced Review & Preview

Check out what is happening with the world’s favorite rabbit ronin. Issue #140, available this week, has a pleasant refresher to remind readers who is who. This should be nice for long time readers but also accessible to new readers as well.

The paper merchant has been strangled recently, an inspector and a ronin must investigate. This story folds mystery into the opening of the period epic. Stan Sakai, scribe and artist, handles all of the elements well creating a page turner. This not unusual because Sakai has created hundreds of page turning issues featuring the sword carrying rabbit.

Sakai folds together a host of anamorphic characters each with their own personalities in this book. Murder at the Inn part two may not seem to be a logical jumping on point, but anyone vaguely familiar with the main character can follow this story. Of course, I recommend picking up Usagi Yojimbo #139 as well, but that is not mandatory.
