Pigs #1 (of 6)-Advanced Review

I went into this comic with no prior knowledge. The cover enticed me in without sending me looking up press releases and background information. That makes this a successful selling cover.

The cover evoked political intrigue by showcasing several re-purposed political standards. Inside, Pigs #1 “Hello Cruel World” opens on the water off the coast of Miami, now. Then the story jumps to an interrogation in Washington, DC that brings in KGB, Cuba, and 1962 politics all up against a stone wall of a woman that is taking over the interview. That seems to signify that besides being a successful selling cover it is also accurate. That is a nice combination on the comic shop shelves.

This is a comic which should do well finding an audience.

This comic has politics, time jumps, and good story telling all leading up to a last page that makes you want to buy the second issue right now. This is a well crafted product from Image Comics and should prove successful.

ISSUE ONE: HELLO, CRUEL WORLD From writers NATE COSBY & BEN McCOOL (CHOKER, MEMOIR) along with hotshot newcomer artist Breno Temura comes PIGS, a brand new ongoing series to join Image’s elite ranks. The story centers around a second-generation KGB Cuban sleeper cell, activated & assigned to overthrow the U.S. Government through a series of kidnappings, assassinations and acts of terrorism. But why has the call come now, 50 years after the original cell last heard from Mother Russia?
