I do and I don’t understand ultimately what the schism is between Cyclops and Wolverine. I can see how Logan thinks the X-Men failed the kids because the X-Men are supposed to be about saving the mutant race not turning them into soldiers. Logan always accepted that he was the bloody killer and he’d get his hands dirty so no one else would have to. But I’m not quite sure how the giant sentinel pushed them to split? I don’t see why Logan was willing to destroy Utopia instead of having the kids fight. I don’t see why Logan thinks opening the school up is any safer or better for the mutant race than hiding out on Utopia.

So for the most part I don’t see why this has happened.

I liked it better in issue #3. That was a better reason then what ended up happening in #4 and 5. Logan being upset that Cyclops let Idie kill the terrorists made more sense and was a better explanation/description of Logan’s feelings that the X-Men let the kids down the second they turned them into soldiers.

The fight between Cyclops and Logan was interesting visually but not much more beyond that. Having all the kids jump into the fray was meant to be uplifting I guess, showing that they are willing to fight and die for their home and I can see how Logan and Cyclops would interpret it differently. Cyclops saw it as justification, that they held their own. And Logan saw it as something they shouldn’t have been involved in the first place.

It just seems a forced point of contention to make Logan leave. It didn’t seem like that big of an issue and their reactions seemed over the top. It’s not as powerful a reason for the split as I was thinking would happen.

And the ones that went with Logan are interested compared to who stayed with Cyclops.

The art by Kubert was great. I’ve always loved his work and this was no exception.

X-Men: Schism #5 receives
3.5 out of 5

Not as strong a reason for the split as would have hoped. Seems forced and not natural.
