Machete Kills

The Maachete Facebook page reports exciting news for Machete fans. The news originated on, reporting that Robert Rodriguez is working on putting together a team to make: Machete Kills! Machete Kills is teased as the sequel at the end of Machete, but fans were not completely sure if that teaser should be believed or if it was just part of the stylistic element for the first movie. IF that teaser can be believed then another sequel, Machete Kills Again, should follow.

The film will be produced and financed by Alexander Rodnyansky, whose Hollywood expansion plans include a $120 million film fund with Media Talent Group’s Geyer Kosinski.

“The fan response to the Machete character has been fanatical since his first appearance,” Rodriguez said. “Machete is truly a super hero and Machete Kills will be bigger and more ambitious than the first time.” is reporting a possible April start date for the filming. Possible story line could see the Mexican hero drafted into a special mission by the American government. Will that tie Machete into the Spy Kids movies? Here’s hoping. has already slated this for a 2013 release which seems reasonable given the fast turn around time on Rodriguez’s exploitation films. corroborates  government recruiting of the ex-fedarale  Machete who will battle his way through Mexico in order to take down an arms dealer who looks to launch a weapon into space. also gives Machete Kills Space  a 2013 date although that project is still in development. Back to back films, possibly shot at the same time, would not be odd for Rodriguez’s exploitation model.

I also hope that IDW eventually returns to the Machete comic mini-series. In an era when every movie seems to be based on a comic, it would be nice for a movie to be given the comic treatment. While changes are being made in movie adaptations, hopefully Machete will be untouched, and remain the one Mexican that you don’t want to mess with.
