Today Marvel comics confirmed that Jonathan Hickman will be leaving the two titles in October.

Hickman started a popular run on Fantastic Four with #570 and will end with #611 and FF #23. He was on the title(s) for three years.

“I always had an end point in mind, but along the way I really fell in love with writing Marvel’s First Family and I also had all these dangling bits to clean up, so I agreed—[and] wanted—to stay on,” explains the writer. “Then all the gears started turning on all the [Avengers Vs. X-Men] stuff and what comes after and it just became obvious that October would be a good time to hop off.”

It was also announced that Hickman would be leaving Ultimate Comics Ultimates in the near future. He’s got multiple creator-owned series coming out from Image. Will he continue at Marvel with a new title or stay in the realm of creator-owned?

Watch for details as they become known.
