Seven issues in, before it could even get going, there’s a shake-up of the status quo.

We’re only seven issues into the series and we’ve already got a shake-up of this magnitude? Why?

We don’t know the characters. We don’t know the direction. We don’t know anything. The first six issues were one adventure. We didn’t get to see the characters functioning as part of the UN. We didn’t get to know the characters. We barely saw them working together. What was the point?

Now with one explosion we have one dead and three severely injured? And new members apparently joining?

This title wasn’t strong to begin with and it’s definately not getting any better. The first arc was non-stop, no room to breath and no time for the characters or story to settle in. And now it’s off again. Why should we care about the character that dies? We barely knew him. The ones that got hurt? Oh well, at this point they were just names and faces.

Yes, all are recognizable from pre-52, but that shouldn’t mean a thing. This is the New 52, it’s a new start. We should be learning about these characters all over again.

I have a feeling this arc will end with the UN accepting the JLI or else they’ll go off on their own. But why would they? There has been nothing in any of the previous issues to show why this team needs to exist.

This series is quickly nearing the bottom and in danger of coming off my pull list.

At least the art by Lopresti is good.
