Quick Thought Reviews For 03/07/12
Published on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 by

There’s alot of books out each week. Some get full reviews, but the rest get quick thoughts.

Defenders #4
Published by: Marvel Comics
Written by: Matt Fraction
Penciled by: Terry Dodson

This is an interesting series. Lots going on, lots to pay attention to. But most of all there’s an element of fun. The little things that Fraction puts in the bottom of the pages are great. This issue is a good look at Doctor Stephen Strange and his affect on people and how those people affect him.

Avengers Academy #27
Published by: Marvel Comics
Written by: Christos Gage
Penciled by: Karl Moline

What’s it say about a title when the best issue it’s had in awhile is one where the main guest is somewhat secondary? The Runaways make an appearance and partly steal the issue. But damn it got annoying after awhile with all the “we have to take them away” and “they can’t seperate us”.

Wolverine #302
Published by: Marvel Comics
Written by: Jason Aaron
Art by: Steve Sanders & Billy Tan

I like the jumping back and forth between chapters with the art. I like how panels are intermixed. The story is decent. I’m not sure why Wolverine felt the need to make love with Yukio at that point in time, and definately not sure how Mystique and Sabretooth knew it was going to happen. That made no sense. This arc is decent, but there seems to be elements missing.

Batwing #7
Published by: DC Comics
Written by: Judd Winick
Penciled by: Dustin Nguyen

At last the mystery of the Kingdom is revealed. I’m just not sure the atrocity is worthy of the lead-up. The loss of life is horrible, and that it was kidnapped and forced kids is even worse. But here’s the thing, who were they fighting the rest of the time when they went up against the warlord’s forces? The same people that were in the massacred army. It just doesn’t end up working well. The rest of the story is decent. Interesting use of Nightwing and Robin in main character roles.

Ferals #3
Published by: Avatar Press
Written by: David Lapham
Penciled by: Gabriel Andrade

Turning into a good little Werewolf story. After setting the stage, Lapham is increasing the story with this issue, introducing two new sets of characters. Adding the bit about Dale loving the blond was weird, because nothing had been hinted at before. That seemed to come out of nowhere.

Read: Stormwatch #7, Winter Soldier #3, The Fearless #10, X-Men #26, Uncanny X-Men #8, Huntress #6, Fatale #3, Ultimate Spider-Man #8
