C2E2: Marvel’s Cup O’ Joe
Published on Saturday, April 14, 2012 by

What news came out of the Cup O’ Joe panel at C2E2?

Panelists include Joe Quesada (Marvel Chief Creative Officer), Axel Alonso (Marvel’s Editor In Chief), Dan Slott, Jason Aaron, Jeph Loeb, C.B. Cebulski (Marvel Talent Relations Manager), Arune Singh (Marvel’s Manager Of Communications).

The Matt Fraction/David Aja project that was teased ended up being Hawkeye.

“If you’re a Matt Fraction fan who likes the crazy, off the wall swagger he gave Doctor Strange, you’re going to love this,” Arune Singh said about the book.

Jeph Loeb and Simone Bianchi will team-up and return to a story started five years ago in the pages of Wolverine. Starting in July they will be doing “Sabretooth Reborn”. Loeb will resolve all the plot threads from Sabretooth’s death, reveal the mysteries behind Romulous and the series will guest star Cloak And Dagger.

Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming will team up for a new Powers series. Sometime after the Takio 2 graphic novel in May, they will launch Powers: FBI and hope to bring in new readers in time for the (hopefully) FX TV series.

During the Q&A a fan asked about the cosmic corner of the Marvel Universe. Quesada answered “I’ve been saying this for a few years because we’ve had things bubbling in publishing for a while, but if you’re a fan of cosmic, you’re going to love what we have coming up in the next year or two.” Alonso added that there was a reason that Nova had been getting some spotlight time recently.

Arune Singh, added during the Q&A, that the Young Avengers Hawkeye, Kate Bishop, will be Clint Barton’s apprentice. Cebulski said that Spider-Woman would not like that. Singh said to look at Matt Fraction’s Young Avengers one-shot as a precursor to the kind of stories that the monthly series will be like.

    • Hawkeye is my favorite character.  Can’t wait for the new series.  I loved the Jim McCann written Hawkeye & Mockingbird, as well as the follow-up mini-series but here’s hoping having a top name like Fraction involved will help keep the book afloat for awhile, as long as he’s on it for a good lenght of time.

Be very disappointed if it’s only 1 or 2 arc kind of thing.
