What is up with the way people are writing Hawkeye lately? Both Rick Rememder and Cullen Bunn are writing him like he’s still somewhat a rookie, like he’s just now becoming a vet. Captain America says that he can become a good leader someday?

Does anyone remember The West Coast Avengers or the Thunderbolts? Hawkeye is every bit as good a leader as Captain America is. Why are people all of a sudden forgetting that?

I’m a huge Hawkeye fan and it’s starting to annoy me. Last writer that really got Hawkeye right was Jim McCann.

That’s not to say Bunn does bad with Clint Barton. Aside from the above mentioned issues, Bunn does a decent job with Hawkeye’s personality. He also does good with the friendship between Cap and Hawkeye. These two are friends and trust eachother, but they are like alot of friends where it just seems like they don’t get along.

The story is decent. Bunn does a good job of playing the two off eachother. Loved the sequence of using Cap’s shield to deflect the arrows. Really shows how well they know eachother, which makes the part about Cap testing Hawkeye ring false. These two know eachother inside and out.

And Cap really doesn’t believe Hawkeye would fold under being Captain America. That’s just not right. With time Bunn would start to find the right way to portray Hawkeye, but apparently he’s only going to be in the book for four issues. A shame.

I liked Vitti’s art in Secret Warriors, but not so much here. The quality and technical aspects are still there. His art hasn’t gone down, I just don’t think it was the right style for the story.
