Whoa.

Not what I was expecting at all.

And I have to say, more please.

Loved it. Absolutely loved the parallels between Earth 1 and Earth 2 with the Parademons and Apokolips attacking 5 years ago and I like how things went differently here, so that in present day the two worlds of completely different.

Robinson’s story is very strong. Plenty of tension and I like how it works into the World’s Finest book, with Robin and Supergirl coming to Earth 1 and becoming Power Girl and Huntress.

I like the twist on the classic Earth 2 from the old DC. Earth 2 was always the world of the Justice Society, where the WWII heroes lived on and were still “heroe-ing” in the present day. Guys like Alan Scott, Al Pratt and Jay Garrick were the inspiration to legacy heroes. I like how it’s been turned around and the DC Trinity are now the inspirations.

The Jay Garrick easter egg was a nice touch, and did a great job of showing that these are different characters. Fans of Garrick know that he’s been happily married to Joan for decades. Not so here.

More then the rest of the New 52, this is a restart, a blank slate. Anything can happen and the first issue proves that anything does happen. It’s interesting to really start the story, to introduce the characters, in the second issue instead of the first. This really could have been a zero issue and I applaud DC for making it the first issue.

Nicola Scott’s art is perfect. She does a great job all around. Solid work, excellent to look at.

I have to say that I enjoyed Earth 2’s version of events a lot better then Justice League #1.

Earth 2 #1 receives
5 out of 5
