I’ve been a bit iffy about this book since it was announced. I like the characters, Huntress more then Power Girl, but the idea of the two being from Earth 2 trapped on Earth 1 was a bit weird sounding. I wasn’t sure how I’d like it.

Levitz pulls it off though. This is a solid book. It’s a good use of flashbacks. The jumping around is easy to follow except for the last one. That read oddly, falling where it did in the flashbacks. But I like the premise now that I’ve read it.

It seems to work pretty well. I like that Levitz will be filling in the missing years of the heroines lives. Starting five years after they got here, and being visitors from another world, wouldn’t work as well without showing what they had been up to. Levitz has a good handle on the characters. They have good banter back and forth, a mark of a long and good friendship. Power Girl has a fun aspect to her, which will help balance out the serious side of Huntress.

The series might have an odd premise, but it’s off to a promising start.

It’s been awhile since I’ve seen George Perez pencils and he’s as good as ever. The cover isn’t as good as would expect from Perez but the interiors? He still puts a ton of detail into his work. It’s amazing to look at. His partner, that does the flashbacks, does equally good work. I’ve always like Kevin Maguire. His work here isn’t as dynamic as Perez, but his style works well in contrast. It really helps set the flashbacks apart from the present day.

The two artists work well together, their different styles blending but distinct so can tell present from past.
