Red Circle Returns Digitally

Ian Flynn is penning a return to Golden Age comics as a way for Archie to move into digital distribution this year.

The price, which has not been set, is another important consideration. “Value, value, value. That’s what we want to give at Archie Comics,” said Mr. Goldwater, who said he expected the subscription fee to be no more expensive than a regular comic book ($2.99 or $3.99). “We’re very conscious of what’s going on in the economy right now. We want to be recession busters. We don’t want to gouge our fans.”

Archie will also include the Impact imprint in the archive.  DC licensed the silver age Red Circle characters for a new universe, Impact, in the 90s. That is a great addition to the archives of these characters. Impact featured work by Mark Waid and others that went on to be great names in the comic industry.

The archives will provide an impressive body of work for Flynn and company to follow.  Flynn has been writing Mega-Man, Sonic the Hedgehog, and other great titles, so he seems capable of continuing the classic characters into a new generation.

Speaking of Sonic, the advertisement for the returning Red Circle was included in the FCBD12 Sonic offering.

    • I am a huge fan of the !mpact era of comics. Having read older issues and newer issues of these characters the !mpact was always my favorite version until I read the new direction this series is taking. Ian Flynn seems to be taking this book in a new direction that should suit it well.

!mpact is still fun to type after all these years!
