The Avengers Movie
Published on Sunday, May 6, 2012 by

We’ve seen it being built through other movies. An unprecedented colloboration. Does it pay off?

Yes.

In a HUGE way.

Without a doubt this is amazing movie. I can’t really talk about it too much without giving alot away and there is so much to talk about.

Joss Whedon has done an outstanding job. Fans of Whedon’s style will not be disappointed. The trademark humor and one-liners is there, and they work to great effect. At points the entire theatre was laughing hysterically.

Each member of the team gets their time to shine, their spotlight moments as well as the big moments when all seems lost.

We didn’t sit through the end credits and I’ve since read what happened, and I wish I had called it in the theatre so would have had some proof but when the Chitauri priest was talking to Loki and kept talking about a “him”, I had a feeling it was who it was revealed to be.

And that sets up the second Avengers movie to be even bigger then the first.

But the first.. There wasn’t a single moment I didn’t like. Every bit of it was dynamite. The large fight scene was amazing. So chaotic, but at the same time so organized. I will say that I still felt the cliched super hero-misunderstanding-fight didn’t need to be in the movie but Whedon did make it enjoyable visually.

There were character moments aplenty. I think Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark stole the show again. Such a perfect fusion of actor and character. I was surprised at Mark Ruffalo’s Banner/Hulk. Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye was great as well, considering how he spent most of the movie, he more then made up for it in the end. I wouldn’t mind seeing a Hawkeye/Black Widow movie. Tom Hiddleston’s Loki was amazing. And the Chitauri? What a great visual on them. I liked what was being set up for a culture, even though we didn’t see much. I can’t wait until they are in the comics, and I bet they will be (and in the regular MU not the Ultimate U, which is where the name first came from).

I’m calling it now, Captain America and Maria Hill will hook up.

Like I said, really can’t talk about it without giving anything away, but everyone MUST go see this movie. I saw it in 2D and now I want to go back and watch it in 3D. Now. Not next week. Now. It was that good.

    • Second largest opening day of all time. Sequel seems guaranteed now if it was ever in doubt, but after the other movies I don’t see why anyone would question a sequel.

    • Whedon NEEDS to direct the sequel. Also, I don’t think *SPOILER* is dead.

      •  Note to self. When I create a comic hero, I should name him/her Spoiler. Then the internet would be abuzz with Spoiler Alerts.

    • The second weekend of this movie made another 100 million dollars. That’s not shabby. It is even more impressive when you realize it has been pirated heavily before the opening weekend. In essence, you can download this movie for free or go see it on the big screen. Overwhelmingly, people are choosing to spend money to see this movie in masses.  Next time we’re debating pirating we should bear that in mind.
