Teenage Mutant Ninja Turles Colored Classics #1

Why did  I buy this book?

This is a classic small press book that made a big splash.  Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles became a phenomenon.

Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 is a desired, sought after comic. Luckily for most tight budgeted readers, the comic has seen its share of reprints over the years. The black and white classic has even been presented in color before. It’s a sticky issue for diehards and casual fans alike. IDW’s new ongoing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Color Classics series, which kicks off, May 9. This is not a comic I needed in my collection, but instead another copy of a comic already in my personal back issue bin.

Of course this is a good comic. It stands the test of time. Mutants, martial arts, and marvel lampooning included in the small press comic now being reprinted again by a larger company.

From IDW’s official solicitation info:
Relive the exciting origins of TMNT, this time in all-new full-color comics! This is where world-wide Turtle mania started! Detailing the entire origin of the Turtles and their first fateful encounter with the Foot Clan and the Shredder! This is your chance to get in on the ground floor of the entire Mirage Studios experience, with the most successful independent comic of all time. Don’t miss it!
I think the renewal of the TMNT franchise has whipped me into a  buying frenzy. Why else would I buy this title again? I’m already collecting the relaunched story. I’ve bought into the related Mirco Series. I’ve been watching the new toys with glee and the new movie news with dread. In that nostalgic moment I picked up the Colored Classics reprint. Nostalgia is the only explanation. I would have been better off purchasing the recent select Archie Comics reprint.
It seems odd on the heels of the title stream lining announcement, to start reprinting these comics in color. The limited foundations of this series provides a brotherhood of turtles being trained by a pet rat to fight the foot. Why did I buy it? Nostalgia. Oh well. It was a fun excuse to read it again.
