Beverly, MA:  Paradigm Shift, the online paranormal graphic novel by Dirk Tiede moved to a new update system. Since the beginning of the series, Tiede has followed a weekly update schedule. After much consideration for the flow of the story, both from a reader’s perspective and his own as the storyteller, the veteran comic book creator has moved to a monthly update schedule, whereby complete scenes will be presented at the top of every month. Tiede believes this new system will allow him the opportunity to tell the complex story of Kate McAllister and her struggles as a lycanthrope without having to spoon-feed his audience. Scenes will be told in their entirety, allowing the story to move along at a bit faster pace and fans will no longer have to concern themselves with missing a piece of the story.
Paradigm Shift, which is nearing the end of its fourth chapter, is the story of Kate McAllister, one of the best detectives in Chicago. But as readers have seen in the first three chapters, she is experiencing some serious changes. Modern police thriller collides with classic werewolf tale when she and her partner are kicked off a juicy gun-running case to investigate a series of bizarre animal maulings. But as she begins to develop strange symptoms and powerful, frightening abilities, Kate realizes she may know this beast better than she could possibly dream. Now, her nightmares have invaded her waking life, and there’s more than just her job on the line — her humanity itself is at stake!
Dirk I. Tiede was born in California, grew up in the Midwest, and cut his teeth as a graphic artist in Chicago. He holds a BFA in commercial art from Millikin University, but has been drawing comics for as long as he can remember. He began Paradigm Shift as an online comic in 1999, and is a founding contributor to premiere comics portal Modern Tales. His artwork is showcased in the books Toon Art: The Graphic Art of Digital Cartooning and Webcomics, appears the documentary Adventures In Digital Comics, and was featured in Season 3 of NBC’s Heroes. In 2008, Dirk relocated to Boston’s North Shore with his wife, where he continues to work as a professional cartoonist and freelance illustrator. Dirk recently illustrated Santarium, a card game by Asmadi Games.

To view the recent scene of Paradigm Shift, visit Tiede’s next scheduled update is August 6, 2012.
