Quick Thought Reviews For The Week Of 06/27/12

AvX is going strong, DC is getting close to zero month. Lots going on.

Wolverine & The X-Men #12
Published by: Marvel Comics
Written by: Jason Aaron
Art by: Chris Bachalo

I’ve always liked Rachel Grey. Good spotlight on her. But like most of the tie-ins, it seems to exist outside the main storyline so it’s hard to pin down where/when it happens. Excellent Bachalo art.

Justice League #10
Published by: DC Comics
Written by: Geoff Johns
Penciled by: Jim Lee

Something seems to be off about the team. They’ve been together for five years now and they know so little about eachother? Yet their enemies know more? Something about it all just doesn’t work. Very oddly paced and written. For a flagship title by two top creators, it’s not a very strong series.

Ultimate X-Men #13
Published by: Marvel Comics
Written by: Brian Wood
Penciled by: Paco Medina & Reilly Brown

I know Brian Wood is just coming on board and needs to shuffle things around to get it where he wants it, but this was just way too wordy. Didn’t sound like Kitty, too many words overpowered the action. Not a strong debut. Woods handled the take over of X-Men alot better then Ultimate X-Men. Medina’s excellent art doesn’t have much room to play in, and not just because of the blocks of text, the story doesn’t help him at all. Same goes for Brown, who is hard to tell about from Medina.

Manhattan Projects #4
Published by: Image Comics
Written by: Jonathan Hickman
Art by: Nick Pitarra

A little disappointed that Einstein isn’t Einstein, like how Oppenheimer isn’t Oppenheimer. I do like the monolith that Einstein build and the opening to other dimensions. Meeting the aliens was a neat little sequance.

X-Men Legacy #269
Published by: Marvel Comics
Written by: Christos Gage
Penciled by: David Baldeon

I liked Ms. Marvel’s reaction to Rogue using her powers. Would piss me off to after their history. Rest of the issue was decent enough. Loved how Baldeon showed Iceman’s slides. Makes sense they’d be connected to the ground.
