As revealed over the weekend at the SDCC 2012 Marvel Games panel, San Diego-based video game developer High Moon Studios (Robert Ludlum’s The Bourne Conspiracy, Transformers: War for Cybertron) is at work on an upcoming game featuring fan-favorite character Deadpool, tentatively scheduled for release sometime in 2013

The Merc with the Mouth has previously appeared as a playable character in X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Marvel Superhero Squad Online, and Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds but this is the first game to feature Deadpool as the lead character. Veteran video game and animation voice actor Nolan North (Uncharted, Batman: Arkham City) will reprise his role as Deadpool (North portrayed the character in the direct-to-DVD animated feature Hulk Vs and Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds). Details have yet to emerge regarding platform-availability or gameplay specifics although from the trailer, it can be surmised that the game will be a third-person action game featuring both shooting and melee combat.
