Coming Attractions For 08/01/12
Published on Sunday, July 29, 2012 by

The first week in August brings Howard Chaykin’s Black Kiss II. What else is coming out?

The full list of new books coming out is available on Diamond’s site.

Books of interest are:
Beasts Of Burden: Neighborhood Watch (Dark Horse Comics)
Infected #1 (IDW Publishing)
Black Kiss II #1 (Image Comics)
First X-Men #1 (Marvel Comics)
Hawkeye #1 (Marvel Comics)

Beats of Burden, by Evan Dorkin and Jill Thompson, have won some awards and received critical acclaim. The series about a group of animals, dogs and cats, is well worth checking out.

Infected is based on a series of horror novels about a disease that turns people into murdering psychopaths. Fans of that genre will want to check it out.

Howard Chaykin returns to Black Kiss. Anything by Chaykin is worth checking out.

First X-Men tells the story of the first group of the children of the atom. It’s Neal Adams returning to Marvel and the X-Men. What else do you need to know?

Hawkeye gets another solo series and as a fan of the character I hope this one lasts awhile. It’s got Matt Fraction and David Aja on board, hopefully for the long haul, so that should help and fans of the Young Avengers will want to check out Kate Bishop’s appearance as well.

    • This is going to be a light buying week for me. My bag won’t have anything when I get there and looking at the list I see very few that I might impulse buy. This might be a good week to dive into the back issue bins.

I have ordered some cartoon series on DVDs so I’ll be planted in front of the tv instead of reading this week.

Beast of Burden does sound interesting. I wonder how it will compare Rex, Zombie Killer.
