Lots of comics, lots of thoughts.

Astonishing X-Men #52
Published by: Marvel Comics
Written by: Marjorie Liu
Art by: Mike Perkins & Gabriel Walta

Karma is one of those characters that deserves a more in-depth look and time in the spotlight. She’s gotten it during some New Mutants stories and has proven to have a complicated and interesting history. It’s nice to see her getting some major X-Men spotlight. The overall story is a bit muddled, really hard to place in the timeline with all the jumping around that Liu has been doing since she took over, but it’s starting to come together. Awesome Dustin Weaver cover.

Avengers Academy #34
Published by: Christos Gage
Penciled by: Tom Grummett

Jeremy Briggs, the Alchemist, is pretty damn transparent right from the start. I’m a little disappointed that Gage went the obvious route and made him into a loony super-villian. All his talk about a new way of doing things was just talk. I do like that Gage is treating his reactions like a teenager, not thinking it all the way through, pretty black and white but thinking he’s got the superior idea. Average Grummett art.
