Quick Thought Reviews For 08/15/12

Lots of books, lots to talk about.

AvX #10
Published by: Marvel Comics
Written by: Ed Brubaker
Penciled by: Adam Kubert

It took awhile, but the series is starting to finally get decent. Not good yet, but decent. This was one of the better issues. Can really see the change thats come over Cyclops. About time actually saw Hope do something. Decent Kubert art.

Avengers Academy #35
Published by: Marvel Comics
Written by: Christos Gage
Art by: Andrea Di Vito

Some okay character moments. I like seeing Lightspeed take charge. The whole Briggs thing feels forced. The kids couldn’t see through him at all? All it takes is for Striker to betray Briggs and Veil realizes he’s bad news? That part felt really forced. Good stuff between Hazmat and Mettle though.

Harbinger #3
Published by: Valiant Comics
Written by: Joshua Dysart
Art by: Khari Evans w/ Lewis LaRosa

I’m still not sold on Evans’ art. It’s a bit messy and puffy for my tastes. I like what Dysart is setting up with this book though. Harada seems like a One-Worlder. Can see why Stanchek is so messed up.

Wonder Woman #12
Published by: DC Comics
Written by: Brian Azzarello
Penciled by: Cliff Chiang

I absolutely love what Azzarello is doing with Wonder Woman. My only complaint is that it doesn’t carry over into the Justice League. It feels like two different worlds and two different characters. Loved the last page. Can’t wait to see where it goes. Great stuff.
