Coming Attractions For 08/29/12
Published on Sunday, August 26, 2012 by

The last week of August. People are heading back to school. What books will be hitting the shelves?

The full list of new releases can be found here.

Books Of Interest:
Phantom Lady #1 (DC Comics)
National Comics: Looker #1 (DC Comics)
Green Lantern Annual #1 (DC Comics)
Locke & Key: Grindhouse (IDW Publishing)
Steed And Mrs. Peel #0 (Boom! Studios)

I’ve always liked Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray’s Freedom Fighters work. The Ray, one of the first New 52 mini-series, was very good and now they are back with another member of the Freedom Fighters (well two, since Dollman is in here as well). This should be as good, if not better, then the Ray and it’s interesting watching the Freedom Fighters be born into the New 52.

I don’t really know what the deal with National Comics is but I’ve always been interested in the character of Looker. So this is a book that should be checked out.

The Green Lantern annual is apparently the issue that starts The Third Army storyline, that introduces the new GL of Earth named Baz (what they need a new one for when there are already three others running around…). So that alone makes this worth picking up.

Locke & Key is coming to an end soon. The last volume will be out in a couple months. So this will be one of your last chances to read the book. Pick it up and enjoy it, it won’t be around forever.

Boom! has been hit or miss with it’s licensed titles but I thought the mini-series was a hit, even with the chance from Morrison to someone else after the first issue (personally, I can’t stand when that happens). Mark Waid is on board for the ongoing series. That alone means it’ll be well written and worth checking out.

One Response
    • Steed and Mrs. Peel was good. I can’t wait to read more.

Batman Beyond Unlimited and Young Justice are still the biggest news for me from DC.

Legend of OZ the Wicked West #6 completes that series and is sure to be good.
