MIM!!!

Yes, I’m excited to see Mim Bracca in the pages of Stumptown. I really liked the character, who has appeared in one of Rucka’s novels, A Fistful Of Rain. Besides being such a great character this means that Atticus Kodiak could show up someday. When Fistful came out, Rucka had a contest for a reader to find out the connection to the Kodiak series of novels that was in Mim’s book. I never did find out what the connection was, but it means that Mim is in Atticus’ world and that means Dex is now too.

Like the first volume of Stumptown, poor Dex just can’t get a break. She’s moving into an office, so it looks like she’s doing good business wise, but the cases? Poor ol’ Dex. It looks like what should be a simple case of finding a lost guitar is going to be so much more.

Stumptown is a well crafted book. Excellent script, excellent art, great characters. Rucka is in his element with this story. I’m eagerly awaiting the first Dex Parios novel, hoping there is one.

But in the meantime I’m going to enjoy the comics.

The scene of Mim talking about her guitars and her baby was perfect. I didn’t think Rucka was a musician, but it sure sounds like he knows what he’s talking about.

There are more great scenes in this issue, especially how Dex deals with the two skinheads. Can’t beat them physically? Beat them mentally. Just another example of what a great character Dex is turning into.
