Coming Attractions For 09/19/12
Published on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 by

We’re sorry for getting the Coming Attractions out so late in the week, but there was Football on. Not that football is more important then what comes out this week.

The full list of this week’s releases can be found on Diamond’s site.

Interesting Books:
Ghost #0 (Dark Horse Comics)
Lobster Johnson: Caput Mortuum #1 (Dark Horse Comics)
Justice League #0 (DC Comics)
Sword Of Sorcery #0 (DC Comics)
Young Justice #20 (DC Comics)
Doctor Who Vol. 3 #1 (IDW Publishing)
Star Trek: The Next Generation: The Hive #1 (IDW Publishing)
Daredevil #18 (Marvel Comics)
New Mutants #49 (Marvel Comics)
Spider-Men #5 (Marvel Comics)

It’s a big week for books worth checking out.

Ghost is the return of an older book from Dark Horse. Years ago they launched a super hero universe of books. So far Ghost has been the only one with any staying power, having come back again and again over the years. Be interesting to see how this series fares with rising star Kelly DeConnick writing. Phil Noto on art, as long as he sticks around for awhile, should help.

As for the Lobster Johnson book… It’s Lobster Johnson, Mike Mignola’s pulp hero. With art by Tonci Zonjic. How can you not pick it up?

Since the first six issues of Justice League was about the formation of the team, it really didn’t need a 0 issue, so instead we get a full book devoted to the back-up feature, Shazam. There’s also some bits about the upcoming Trinity War. That alone makes this book worth checking out.

Sword Of Sorcery is another one of the new books being introduced during zero month, as some other books are being canceled with their last issues coming out during zero month. The only thing that makes this interesting is that it features the return of Amethyst, princess of Gemworld, to the world of comics. It’s been a long time since Amethyst was last seen.

The latest season of the Young Justice cartoon jumped forward five years and now the comic catchs up.

A new season of Doctor Who means a new season of the Doctor Who comic book. Andy Diggle comes onboard to write the new adventures of the good Doctor.

Star Trek: The Next Generation: Hive #1 tells the story of a future where Locutus of the Borg has taken over the galaxy. It’s up to Captain Jean-Luc Picard to stop his future borg self. The episodes where Picard became Locutus were some of the best during the entire run of ST:TNG, so this story should be good especially where it’s written by Brannon Braga, who wrote many TNG episodes including the two part series finale.

Daredevil #18 introduces a new villain to DD’s roster. Mark Waid’s run on DD has been critically acclaimed, so Coyote should get lots of attention.

New Mutants (sadly) is coming to an end. This issue ends the current storyline so that Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning can give the series a proper send off with the 50th issue next month. With the series ending, that means all bets are off on who (if anyone) survives this issue.

The mini-series crossing over Spider-Man and Spider-Man (Ultimate version) comes to an end. Will Peter Parker give Miles Morales his blessing?
