NEWS: Injured Adam West cancels Edmonton Expo appearance

Adam West cancels Edmonton Expo appearance due to back injury; Julie Newmar (Catwoman from 1966’s Batman), Burt Ward (Robin from 1966’s Batman) Lee Majors (The Six Million Dollar Man), Misha Collins (Castiel from Supernatural) added to guest list.

Fan-favorite Batman and Family Guy actor Adam West aggravated an old back injury in New York recently, resulting in the cancellation of his upcoming Edmonton Comic & Entertainment Expo appearance. The 84 year-old West sent out the following message to attendees:

Adam West here…a crazy thing happened a few months ago in the bat cave: Bane broke my back and cracked three of my vertebra. Unfortunately, last week while I was in New York my back was re-injured. It is with a heavy heart that I’m making my first cancelation in 47 years of appearing at conventions.

…I’m quite jealous of my good friend Burt, who will now be joined by the Feline Fatale Julie Newmar, Supernatural‘s Misha Collins, and the 6 million dollar man himself, Lee Majors.

    • Are they using Burt Ward as a filler to replace West? That is cool and sad at the same time. It’d still be neat to meet Ward.

      • Ward, Newmar, Majors, and Misha Collins were all already slated to appear alongside West from what I gather… it’s just unfortunate timing that West’s cancellation coincided with the announcement of their appearance.

        • That’s happier than how I read it, but that con isn’t in my backyard so I don’t follow it as closely as I would if I were going. :(

Ward and West don’t seem to appear together as often or as close to me as I would like. :)
I’d love to have my BlueWater comics signed…or maybe a Family Guy DVD. I’d still rather watch a Mayor West spin off than Cleveland. If they would pull in voice actors like Ward and Newmar it would be a true geeky treat.
