Special make-up effects guru, stuntman, actor, and director to appear at Fan Expo Vancouver (April 20–21, 2013, Vancouver, BC, Canada).

Tom Savini (Night of the Living Dead, From Dusk 'til Dawn, Machete)

Tom “The Godfather of Gore” Savini, the legendary special make-up effects expert best known for his work on such films as the original Friday the 13th, Dawn of the Dead, and Creepshow, has been confirmed as a guest in this year’s Fan Expo Vancouver (April 20–21, 2013, Vancouver, BC, Canada).

In more recent years, Savini has found a fan following outside of the horror film buff and special effects community with his acting work in films such as Django Unchained, Machete, Grindhouse (Planet Terror segment), the 2004 Dawn of the Dead remake, and From Dusk ’till Dawn.

    • Savini is also in Romero’s non-zombie movie Knightriders. That is a movie that is often forgotten by everyone except the hardcore Romero fans. It is also a movie that will probably not warrant a remake.

      • Definitely one of the more memorable “that guy!” character actors. I honestly had no idea he was such a respected leader and teacher in the field of special make-up effects until coming across his IMDb entry several months ago.
